This painting by Garcia which was started in 1994 and finished 20 years later in October 2014, is based on a 1992 photo of Juan Carlos I, who was King of Spain at that time and his family. In the picture we see King Juan Carlos I with his wife, Queen Sophia, and their 3 children: Elena, Cristina and the new King Felipe IV.

I chose Antonio Lopez Garcia as my artist for the blog topic because I really admire his realistic style of painting. He creates his pieces of art by studying the look of places, family members and friends and then applies his memory of those things to his drawings, paintings and sculptures. The thing that impresses me the most about García's work is that with his use of drawing and painting his friends and family members, we the viewers get to connect with him, the artist on a deeper level.
